Amber and I were in bed, watching TV the other night and we heard a loud pop. I grabbed my home invader welcoming device and proceeded out though the house. I noticed this about 10 seconds into my search.

The glass is covered in tape for the time being. It's seems to be holding humidity Ok.
I suspect the Hydra I was using for humidification is to blame. There is a adapter that transitions from 5mm jack to a flat ribbon cable. This adapter had hardly noticeable expansion and charring on the portion with a paper-like cover.

That really sucks, I'm sorry it happened. Hopefully it will be an easy fix once you get some new glass cut.

If the house burnt down I had 10k worth of cigars in there and hid the Picasso behind the humidor.

did heat cause that?
do you have a cat?
that one is hard to explain.
maybe that bloody intruder slamed the humi door on his way out?
did you do a cycle count?

At first glance it doesn't seem like it'll be too hard to fix if I can replace the glass at a decent price. Simple projects often get out of hand fast though, so we'll see.

definitely too small,
remember it's going to hold wine too. 20 by 20 should be about right. with a seperate entrance to the house, so we don't have to disturb you and Amber when we come by ;c)

Oh the wine room was going to be separate - different temp and RH.
