My friend Ray picked up this cigar from the IPCPR show. He can give more info. The chief Gurha roller made this baby up right there and said it was made from Cuban tobacco. I told Ray I would review it for better or worse.

This was a shaggy roll, maduro wrapper, hard to the touch, medium veins and no soft spots to speak of. I didn't measure it but I'd guess 50x6.5". The cold aroma was chocolaty and the cold draw was a mixture of cocoa, mushroom and something else, maybe raisin. The first 1/3" before the burn hit wrapper was strong and dirty tasting. For the next 2", there were some burn issues and tunnelling along a stem, and there was a fairly strong musty (concrete?) taste. I was getting a lot of air through a hole in the ash. Once I worked my way past this troubled section, everything settled down into a solid, decent smoke. There was still some mustiness in the background but it wasn't unpleasant any more. I'd say the taste was predominantly earth and plain tobacco. I felt this was Dominican tobacco.

Someday I'll try a Gurkha again and maybe I'll remember this stick.

I think this is spot on with the origin, it didn't seem at all Cuban to me, the wrapper seemed like a corojo with how earthy it was.

Thanks a bunch for weighing in on it Scott.
