Hours: I need to check... I think 7 days a week.

I found this place by accident really... I was at my local liquor store having a hard time deciding which beer to buy (always a problem :D) and overheard some of the staff talking about their friday nights out. One girl mentioned this cool local cigar bar/pub that her friends had found. My ears pricked up at that point & when checking out (I settled on Full Sail Amber) asked about the pub. Last night seemed as good as any to check it out, so I pulled up a stool at the bar & ordered myself a beer. Atmosphere was pretty nice with a few flat-screens & a couple of pool tables (free pool Sun & Mon). The staff were friendly and quick to refresh my drink... They have no problems with people bringing in their own cigars (I was one of the few people not smoking cigarettes) and the bar staff seemed interested in my cigar ;) On the wall behind me there was a large cabinet with a pretty reasonable selection of cigars. I was surprised to find that the etiquette is to grab your selection & bring it to the bar or waitress to have it added to your tab. This place is certainly pretty relaxed & I'm definitely going to be back.

This would be pretty easy to hit after work, at least for now. Thanks for the heads up Peter.

Thanks for posting this Peter!!! That looks like a great spot to stop at on my way home from our facility on Hampden and Wadsworth.

A few words taken from here (http://denver.metromix.com/bars-and-clubs/pool_hall/devons-pub-denver-metro/359704/content) that I thought were applicable...

"Good bar and good times in south Denver. It’s a stand-alone building in a strip mall parking lot, but it’s kind of tucked away behind a burger place and is hard to see from the street, all of which aids in the feeling that you have discovered a secret place. Not terribly large, it still holds several pool tables and attracts its share of skilled stick-workers. The regulars are friendly and laid back, a direct reflection of the staff members who also know their way around a beer tap."

Reading this again reminds me to mention that this place is hidden behind a Burger King. It's a stand-alone building in the middle of the parking lot of a strip mall called Happy Canyon (shopping center?).

ive been there a couple times and not a bad place, but as you noticed it tends to cater to a younger and mostly cigarette croud...also no food, i went there once to watch a bronco game and found that i had to convince them to turn off the jukebox to hear the sound of the bronco game, and had to order a pizza from the place across the parking lot for food....

but may be worth another visit or two..
and they did have guinness on tap...:guinness_drinking:

Just a few thoughts on Devon's....

I used to go there when I was in High School. Was a great B&M with great ownership. At the time it was strictly a smoke shop. Since then, obviously, it is a smokers pub. Nice place, nice staff, decent drink prices and a great mix of people. All music is via a Juke Box, so you are bound to hear something you like and something you dont, so be flexible (not that I think anyone on here isn't).

STRONG WORD OF ADVICE: Bring a couple of your own sticks. Their prices are up there and I have had occasion to buy a stick from them that was too dry to smoke. I have heard that they have corrected their humi probs, but I still have my traveler with me when I go in, just in case.

Over all, Great Place, and I have been there MANY times.

Heads up on Devon's:

I was there for a quick one after work Tuesday with my buddies Jack and Ferd and noticed a new placard on the table; it said, in effect, that to keep their smoking status they need to keep up a certain amount of cigar sales. It strongly suggested buying a cigar there, but did not ban bringing your own.

Like a corkage fee....

Sounds fair to me, if I ever make it over there I will be glad to pay a small fee or purchase a cigar. Seems like a small price to pay for a place to smoke inside out of the cold.

Unfortunately I might be wrong but in order to maintain a smoking status for a cigar bar they need to make a percentage off of sales. Might be their motivation? I'd still contribute if that was the case. :)

I like Devon's quite a bit. I used to go there for "lunch" when I was working in the tech center. The last couple of times I've been there in the evening, though, it's been quite loud inside with the music from the jukebox. That's why I prefer to go there during the day.
