I need to thank Ray (spect) and Amber for their humbling recent generosity. Ray has been very enthusiastic about wet shaving for a while now. He very kindly offerred me a free and very nice Shumate straight razor because I had been thinking about trying it. He wouldn't give it to me though until he had the edge honed just to his liking. Knowing this was coming, I purchased some of the basic necessities like decent creams and a strop (and styptic of course). He gave me the razor last weekend and I can certainly tell it'll be a great shaver, at least once my skills are up to par (no blood yet but I'm still very tentative).
Here's the devious part. Ray sent me a pm asking about plate colors at Georgetown Pottery. Of course he said he was asking "for Amber". Like anyone let alone Amber would ask my opinion on dinnerware, I didn't even think and responded with the colors I liked best. I didn't look at any other part of the site being somewhat rushed at the time. The next thing I know I get another message saying "Consider yourself bombed". Only in hindsight can I think how silly it was for me to not see something fishy or an ulterior motive behind dinnerware selection. I don't have it yet as these Shaving Scuttle Mugs are hand made, but here's what I was bombed with. Thank you so much Ray and Amber, as they were both in on it. Sleep soundly, both of you, knowing generosity never goes unpunished.
