Shitty day... I was all beat from getting home late from the rockies game last night (which sucked since they got spanked).
So I decided today would be a good day to get some extra rest and drive down to visit my grandparents. On the way down to Loveland I'm driving down 287 and I just enter the Loveland city limits. I'm driving southbound and there is a tow truck hauling an old school fire truck North bound. Well the drive shaft and transfer case fall off the truck (I found all this out later) and the car behind it ran over the drive shaft, which blew out his tire and steering and caused him to hit the curb on the right side of the road. Well the motion of him hitting the drive shaft sent it hurdling into the side of my car and I was driving at 50 MPH... damaged the front quarter panel... took the mirror off... destroyed the back rim... Somehow I managed to stay in my lane and bring the car to a stop while ducking down as I saw that damn thing flying at me...
Then I turned it around and tried to figure out wtf was going on... There was a waste management guy there who saw it all and explained to me why I just saw my car get destroyed on the driver's side...
There was a total of 5 cars who were hit or drove over the pieces and I was the only one who had major damage... but the only one who didn't get a flat...
I had to go get a quote on it and will have to get a rental. Looks like it will be around $2k to fix it all and the tow truck company wants to pay and doesn't want to send it to their insurance. So hopefully I will get it all fixed in the next couple of weeks and keep it off the books since they wanna pay cash... that way it doesn't show up as a 'wreck'.
Everyone ended up being safe, but it turned out to be an eventful day with all that crap going on... Looks like I need a cigar tomorrow for sure...
