Well it's that time again, :clap2:. I have been talking to the mods and a few others about hosting this years herf. There have been many ideas and all are still on the table but I have one that I would like to propose to the group.
For those who don't know, I've been in food service for a very long time and I would like to try to get some of my vendors to donate the food for this years herf. Last year we ordered food from the catering arm of the company I work for and I think most were happy with the outcome. This year I would like to prepare the food myself and reduce the cost to $0 if I can. From there I would like to propose a small donation from each person attending that will be given directly to whomever would like to take on the responsibility of getting the money to the most deserving sponsor of cigars and goodies to the troops.
In an effort to make this easy on me to prepare the food I am also proposing that we have the herf at my place. In order to do this I would need some help with folks bringing games, etc. I have a large backyard and large garage that can both be used for smoking cigars. I have a sun-room and patio that can be used to serve food and double as an auction/raffle area. In addition there is a hot tub for those who wish to soak and smoke. There is also a Pool Table in the game room that can be used to have a tournament to also help fund cigars and goodies for the troops. I am willing to put together a bracket. We could also do this with darts as I have a couple regulation boards I could setup.
Murphy Creek golf course is very close to my house for those who wish to play in the morning, I would like some help setting this up but am willing to do it myself if needed as I really want to play a round with as many of this group that would like to play. If Murphy Creek is not the course folks would like to play there are several others very close.
Okay, I have said a lot and you are probably cross-eyed by now. We are thinking the end of September or beginning of October. The thinking here is that most vacations will be over and the weather should be a little cooler.
