Is this firm enough to start posting on all the boards?

(Sorry about the second post Fred but the other one says it's locked)

* I think I made a mistake and rooms are $139. See info from Michael. Will need to find out from Michael how people will request the special rate and the reservation procedure. Need to verify the rate is for double occupancy.
* 2 hours enough for dinner and a cigar? Is Dale going to speak at dinner or just be there to chat with. Might want to start dinner at 5 pm.
* I suggest $5 per person for the herf if you opt for dinner, and the $10 per person is for for non-diners, prepaid no later than April 26th. I'm fine with $10 from all pre-payers though.
* Cash bar and a free wine tasting for those attending. Non-alcoholic beverages and juices will be available at the bar for those that choose. Need to confirm with Mike on the wine tasting.
* I wanted a preliminary commitment from people no later than 3/2 in order to let Michael at the hotel know how many to expect. This is now unrealistic so I'd say we should emphasize we need a good head count by Sat Apr. 5.
* I'm still working on the golf tournament.
o With appropriate early commitment from golfers, there will be a Front Range Herfers Golf Tournament starting the morning of May 3rd. Preliminary costs will run from $47 to $70 per golfer, and will include cart and range balls. Depending on where it's set up, there may be other freebies or perks. My intention is to keep costs down. The reason for the tournament is that is the only way I can reserve the appropriate tee times well in advance of the public, and it will be similar in cost per player as regular play. No decision yet as to regular play, team scramble, match play, prizes for longest drive/closest to the pin/low score, etc. I will need to set this up very shortly as the tournaments are being booked rapidly. It will probably (no guarantees) be somewhere between Broomfield and Boulder.

Thanks for the info Scott, I am good with either $5 or $10 for folks having dinner and the wife and I are both in for dinner. I am also good with the room rates and Colleen and I will be staying at the hotel. I want this to be fun for Colleen so that she will want to be involved, so I will be passing on golf to walk with her around Boulder. May 3rd is perfect for me. I will be happy to buy a few reams of colored paper and make some flyers for us to hand out at the B&M's. So once it is final You, Fred, Peter and I should proof the anouncment and then I will get the flyers copied. If I missed anything else that requires a commitment please just consider me in.

Thanks you again Scott and Fred for your hard work in putting this together, please know that I will be happy to help wherever needed.

I really hope I can make it, my wife and my mom are going to be out of town so I'm hoping my dad will watch the kids...might mean I will have to miss the golf tourney (it would've been my first!) but I'm working on it!

I'm on the fence with a conflict myself. Fortunately it's nothing that can't be juggled if I really need to. Just a bunch of long distance driving. It'll really depend on what I can round up to fly that Sunday. I should be in before the buzzer though with a definite.

Here are the early totals. If I made any mistakes, let me know. Anybody out there who hasn't let us know what they want to do for an extremely fun day with fellow lovers of the leaf, just let us know. Everyone, please fill out the registration form at http://www.cfrhn.com/CS/Inaugural%20Herf/Herf.pdf and get Fred your prepayment. Those of us who have talked to friends who are interested, let's help them get registered and paid up. We will need a minimum of 12 people for the golf tournament, though it would be excellent if we could get closer to 20 participants.

I stopped by Palma Cigars (http://www.palmacigars.com/) in Denver today and spoke with the owner Clay Carlton. He is the only roller in Denver. He does rolling events around Denver. Normally he charges for a 2 hour rolling, which includes 25 cigars that he rolled at the event. He basically rolls, presses and ages the filler and binder (Dominican or Nicaraguan) in advance and adds the wrapper at the event. Can choose from multiple wrappers, Conn Broadleaf and maduro.

He also runs a NP org called Cigars to the Troops (http://www.cigarstothetroops.com/). After talking to him, we may be able to work something out where he rolls at the herf. We need to talk to him more and see if we can make something happen. He was running to a rolling event at Morton's so our conversation was cut short. I don't know yet what he would need to come by and roll for us at the herf. In any case, his org seems a very nice fit with FRH.

I've only just met him, but Clay seems like good people. I picked up a few cigars to try out. The construction is excellent. I tentatively reserved May 3rd, and gave him the cfrhn.com Web address, so he may log in and say hello. Anyone can feel free to call and chat with him, and look at the Web sites. I will talk to Fred and others more, and get back in touch with Clay.

Thanks Scott, I hope something works out as it would be fun to have a roller at the herf and as you said it looks as if he does some real good.

I talked to Clay at Palma Cigars today (http://www.palmacigars.com). He is going to roll for us from8 - 10 pm at the herf this Saturday, May 3rd. He'll probably roll about 25 cigars in that time. The cigar filler and binder are pre-rolled and aged a few weeks. People can stop by to request their choice of wrapper, Nicaraguan, Brazillian, Conn, etc. Based on the sample I purchased from him, his rolling is outstanding.

For donating his time, he normally takes cash donations for his 'Cigars to the Troops' organization (http://www.cttt.org/). He also normally does not send cigars that are not rolled by him to the troops. He agreed to accept cigar donations of whatever people bring in order to bring the organization some exposure. We will be collecting cigars for the CFRHN troop effort as well as for his organization. I'm sure he'd gladly accept any monetary donations as well. I am hoping we get a good amount of donations for both troop support efforts.

We will need a table for him to roll on and collection boxes for the donations. He will be showing up around 7:30 to set up, and start rolling about 8 pm. We need to put his logo(s) up on the CFRHN site.

Very nice Scott, I will bring a few cigars for the cause and a few bucks to throw in. The shirts will be here tomorrow and I am working on a new patch but it might be a good time to call the people that did the Habanos patch as we are certain about the quality of work they do. From what I have found out though we may want to use less fill in the patch as that is the problem with the stitching looking less than crisp. The more fill the longer the stitch and the longer the stitch the less clear the picture.

Jamey thought I should post this to let everyone know:

Hey Dave,

I'll donate a box of CAO Americas for the troupes and a colibri travel humidor for the raffle. I'll put them in your locker.

Thanks,

So on your way up, please stop by and thank Duane from Havana Manor for his generosity.

I had a great time!! Thank you everyone for your contributions and fellowship. Thanks to Clay for rolling. The biggest thanks goes to Fred, Peter, Jamie, Dave and Ray for working as a team to make this one a huge success. I'll post pics soon, tho I didn't take a lot.

My only regret is being so wiped out at 11 pm when I took off, that I left half of a very tasty Partagas Culebras on the ashtray.

I didn't do anything besides show up and drink Scotch. You deserve the kudos Scott for getting the roller there and all the prizes you put together.
