Boys, there is no way I can explain this event. Beyond belief. I've met some wonderful people and the cigars were amazing. Tell you all about it this weekend at the BBQ. Friday, I participated in an all-day puff puff pass and tasted more than 20 different cigars from the 70's, custom, rare, etc. I didn't smoke one whole cigar the entire day. Everyone just walks around and says, "Here taste this one." and then tell you its a 1492, or Mahita (sp) or something you've never heard of in you life.
The majority of the men here are serious smokers and collectors. There were I'd guess 15 or so newbs like me who were obvious because we couldn't say much because we didn't know much, but we were great listeners not to mention that our "cigar caddys" said so in very clear terms!!
These guys allowed a newb like me to taste things I will never again have the opportunity to experience. We would have 6-8 cigars being passed around and someone would light something and say this is a 77' Party whatever and insert it into the pass to contrast an 82' release. And these came from men you wouldn't particularly recognize on the board.
My tongue last night was a cratered, burned out, raw piece of meat, but it felt so good! Da Klugs got a combo soft serve and sherbet ice cream dish for everyone last and it was the most soothing, tasty treat I've ever tasted because it helped to sooth the soreness and then the evening puff puff began and more aged, rare and crazy chit until the wee hours.
The most important thing I learned so far is to smoke my dam cigars!! I brought everything gifted me by all of you guys (especially Scott) and shared them with everyone and will finish the rest today. They gave me information and codes for specials and vendor's names, etc. and I went online last night and they showed me which cigars I should purchase and told me why. I brought more than 75 cigars with me and they were gone by last night. Gifts and puff puffs. Da Klugs came over and sat next to me and handed me a cigar. Then said, now taste this one. I did. Then he said yours is 22 years older than mine. Can you tell the difference in the profile? I just blankly starred at him and nodded my head. There just weren't any words I could think of. LOLLL
Finally, Da Klugs (Dave) pays for this entire event personally. He catered all meals, treats, ah hell the little things. Every table had single cigar bags, sharpies, a lantern and flashlight, jars of nuts, cutters, lighters, everything needed to gift, mark and smoke!
We need to do puff puff passes at our herfs! I'm sold on this.
Hell, I'm running on nervous energy, no sleep and excitement. The guys I've met on the boards are really friendly, inviting and there wasn't a snob in the bunch. (Well maybe one or two, but fsk them.)
