My Cub Scout pack traditionally raises the flag on the first day of school. Tomorrow along with the opening ceremony the principal gives there is a presentation of a flag that flew over the American Embassy in Iraq which was donated by Ken Chavez in dedication to his children who attend the school.
I guess he got back in June and is spending time with the family before returning to duty as a DPD gang unit cop in October. Can't wait to meet him tomorrow.
On another note, another one of the fathers in my son's class has re enlisted in the reserves and is being activated in October. He's headed to Afghanistan to do IT work, oddly the military picked his old job rather than the EMT he is now in real life. I wish him well.
