This forum looked so lonely I had to muck it up and post here.

So I just got my new Palio from the CS group buy and I was expecting it to be velvety smooth action. It feels kind of sticky, is that normal and I should just shut up and go out in the garage and have a smoke and start breaking it in or is this an anomoly?

They lock when closed so they can feel a little sticky. It should cut just fine, if not then you have a problem. Try cutting a cigar and then give us your thoughts, please.

Well I finally got a chance to give it a run through tonight. No kids, no girlfriend, no commitments (this is weird) and the doctor did some stuff with my knee so I can't work out! Since tonight was so nice and having to look at the beautiful weather all day I thought I'd make the time and get the motorcycle running so when the predicted weather passes and we get back to normality I'd have even more days with a reason to take the new Palio out for a run.

The intended target was a Perdomo Fresh Rolled that has been sitting with some others as part of a split from a few months ago. The wrapper had a nice leathery texture to it, the construction was quite nice, especially for such an inexpensive smoke.

Sitting in the parking lot of Pep Boys after securing a new battery (last one gave me 5 years of worthy service, it was time) and a previous trip to the Harley shop for a new headlight (same reason, except the low beam burned out), I unsheathed my new trusty blade. I examined the victim looking for that 'right line' on which to decapitate it. I open the jaw of the Palio and insert the tip of our subject.

One fairly swift movement provides me with a surgical like cut cleanly separating the previously targeted cap from its former home. There was no strings, Klingons, extra pieces falling around but a nice smooth surface to gaze upon. The only issue was the cut was peaked a slight bit in the middle. Further review by the Russian and German judges revealed a slight rocking wrist action mid cut for a slight point dedution to the operator.

For those still with me and interested, the cigar started out with a nice light flavor and a decent amount of smoke. The draw was just right and the wrapper was solid enough to give it a love bite as I held it in my mouth. The burn was very nice and even producing a light grey ash if I recall. It kept going nicely until near the halfway point when I began to neglect our subject a bit due to my role as mechanic. The good news is even after several re-lights it still had good flavor going. I took it about down to a third remaining where the flavor had definitely developed into what I would call a nice medium intensity.

In summation, I'm very happy to have acquired this cigar and sitting on it was definitely a good choice. I can't wait to have another. Anyone else? Oh and the Palio was another fine acquisition. It worked flawlessly and I can tell that once I get the fabled sword under control it will be an even better tool in my arsenal.

Two nubs up!!!

It's a good thing that your in IT, as it sounds like the mohel vocation was not in the cards for you.

-Just a little off the top- Mohel service, could have been good if not for the peaked cuts.

Slanted cuts aren't much better either. I'll bring it with us next time and cut your cigar. It'll be perfect if you want to smoke around a corner.

You should both be ashamed of yourself! Those of us who are not quite worthy of a Palio just yet are sorely disappointed! Now get out there and cut a cigar!

In pennance, I think next time he should be at our beck and call for all of our cutting needs. Maybe he should be available to light our stuff as well.

For those keeping score, I still love my Palio and haven't cut with anything since. Now if I can only learn to not leave that little ridgeline down the middle.

I still leave a ridge once in awhile with my xikar... One of these days I will actually try the Palio... I just don't like that it is awkward shaped...
