I didn't see Jamie asking for PMs. It would be easier to keep a list of those that will attend. If you are not a member of Cigar Asylum and don't want to be, but are interested in a Ft. Collins herf to help the troops, post your name here and we'll add it to the list.
Here's the link to make it easier for all FRHs to find!

BTW, I have some cigars coming for this from Altadis. We will see if they show this time. I'll hope against hope that they aren't dogz but at least we'll be packing. Here's Tyler's rant against Altadis on BOTL. http://www.botl.org/community/forums/sh ... hp?t=22499 (http://www.botl.org/community/forums/showthread.php?t=22499). I happen to agree with you Bro.

n00b... it isn't a bad site, but I don't post much there... probably the only site I don't whore one...
"So I go into work today and see this poster and a pamphlet from Altadis. A co-worker tells me I should check it out because I would get a kick out of it. It's about Montecristo cigars, and how to spot counterfeits. I thought it was a little odd, because domestic Montes suck and I had no idea why anybody would want to counterfeit them. I read a little more, and Altadis is saying how they own the name Montecristo, and that ANY other Montecristo cigars are counterfeits, including the ones made in Cuba! They say that they own the name Montecristo, and any other Montecristo cigars are absolute violations of their intellectual property rights. It even goes into detail about the Cuban seals and holograms, telling you that if you own a box of CUBAN Montecristos that they are counterfeits!!!
What a bunch of pompous assholes over at Altadis! I can't believe they would even think about saying such a thing, let alone provide brochures and posters on it! If anyone was naive enough to smoke their shit sticks before, they probably won't after they see this bullshit! Absolutely horrendous what they are doing. Altadis is a greedy company, and their cigars suck. No fucking way I'm going to recommend an Altadis cigar to anyone again (as if I have done it before!). Really bad move on Altadis' part. I cannot express how shitty of a move this is. If it were possible for Altadis to move down a notch in my book, they would have done so after this crap. Altadis, you're a shit company, run by shit people, and you make shit cigars.
TYLER"

Glad you guys enjoyed the rant. If you had to actually deal with Altadis, you'd know what a piece of shit company they are. We currently have NO Montes, RyJs, etc. in stock because they're all pricks. But hey, if they give you free cigars for a herf, go for it! I'd never turn down a free smoke.
As for the November herf, I might be able to make it for a little bit. I work at 2pm, but since it's in FoCo already I will probably show up at noon and duck out around 1:45 for work. Is it at the Cigar Caddy HQ? I'll see if Mondo wants to sponsor it with some free coffee, too. I know he posted a thread around here somewhere about it.

Ok, I adjusted my Thanksgiving travel plans a touch and registered over at CA so I can rsvp. I'll be headed up for the 11/22 herf. Any tips on troop herf customs? I was planning on showing up with a good bundle of smokes and the like, but I'm fairly sure there's more to it than that ;)

NOTICE
We will have an assembly line and each of you will have specific tasks on the line. I'm thinking we can build our minimum of 200 in a couple of hours max. At the moment this is how we intend to build the caddys:
Bottom layer
Each caddy will have a minimum of 2 cards and some will have 3. (They will be folded to fit.) Priority will be given to the cards and not candy, etc.
Xmas candy and/or other stuff to fit remaining space
Cigar cutter & matches in every caddy
Top Layer
5 cigars
On the top of the lid
We will tape a gift tag on the outside of the lid of every caddy with the corresponding card inside.
Here are the tasks:
Caddys will need to be removed from there shipping boxes and the plastic sleeve removed. Then we need to remove the retail display hanging tag. Its a plastic tag that allows the caddy to be hung on a retail display. It pops off using a pocket knife, etc.
Caddys are then opened and placed flat on our tables.
The top foam pad is removed and placed on the open lid.
Cards are folded and placed on the bottom of the caddy.
Cigar cutter and matches are placed next followed by candy, etc.
The divider pad is now placed on top and 5 cigars are placed on it.
The humidity device in the lid is charged.
The caddy is closed and a gift tag is taped on the lid.
5 caddys are placed in each APO Flat Rate box and then it is taped up.
Shipping label is applied along with the postage.
Have a drink and a cigar!
Shipping
5 caddys per each USPS Flat Rate APO box. Each box needs to be folded and taped before packaging and then sealed afterward.
The USPS shipping label then needs to be applied to each box along with the postage. Customs forms and shipping labels will be printed in advance.
200 men/women will have something special this year thanks to you guys. Allow me be the first to perhaps say this...
Merry Christmas guys and thank you for everything you do.

Fred is going to be the best person to answer this question but I will give you what I understand to be needed (Fred, please correct me if I am wrong). You are needed!! Beyond that I am bringing a bundle of smokes and I bet others are doing the same. I think Jamie is going to shoot us a PM that says something like A-L bring a side dish and M-Z bring a dessert. Turn out for this herf is going to be big so you may want to bring something to carry extra cigars home in if I know our crew.

Sure Henry, many of us look for good deals on cigars like deals with free shipping. We purchase them and pass them on to Fred and he makes sure they get to the Troops. For example, the other day I bought a bundle of Dominican 4000 coronas from CigarMonster.com. This is a good quality mild-med cigar that I picked up for $19.95 including shipping. Also become a member of the CRS platoon (http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1083).
Henry there will be plenty of opportunities to be involved, support the Wife at her banquet and get in on the next one.

I would be interested in catching a ride with someone, or maybe those of us from the south end of the state could all go together.

Jamie is riding with me and my car will be full of "stuff" so I won't have room for anyone. I have coolers of cigars, USPS cartons, boxes of cards, shipping supplies, etc. And I will have to have room to bring back over 40 flat rate boxes! :D

Some goodies showed up for the Troops today, five boxes of Grandmas cookies and four boxes of beef jerky. In addition there is one box of assorted potato chips for the herf. All thanks to Pepsico/Frito-Lay and their Broker Matt Bartels. Fred and I may need a trailer for the trip up tomorrow.

Looks like we could use some dip for the chips, guac, salsa, ranch and maybe some whipped cream in a can. Thats what I am bringing unless something else is more urgent (will pick up stuff on the way). Holla back if we need some bread products for the meat.....
A will be driving by myself as I need the flexibility to leave if needed at home. Will have pick-up with covered box if transport back becomes a problem. See you guys around noon, I can't wait! Wife is working on a few Christmas cards as we speak.....

First, thank you for spending your day and making a difference in the lives of strangers. As you know this is my passion and I could accomplish nothing without you. It was truly a remarkable day. I watched the excitement and frankly love in your eyes as each of you became more and more immersed in your tasks. This resulted in gifts from the heart.
I'm very tired at the moment though I didn't do much at all. The energy in the room simply overwhelmed me. I'm so very proud of all of you and so very grateful to call you my friends. I love you guys.

Thanks Fred and Jamie for putting this on! It was great to see everybody again. I'm bummed I had to head into work and couldn't help with the troop packages. Sounds like you guys did an awesome job! You should send the assembly pictures into Cigar Aficionado or something, and maybe they'll put 'em in their magazine with a short story. Definitely something magazine-worthy that you all did, and maybe it'll give other people ideas to help out the troops, too.
