Just got done emailing my trading partner for the latest Harley shirt trade and found out he's being deployed on April 28th. (Maybe a day for our April herf?) But after reading what he sent me:
"It is my unit crest for the 1229th Trans Co (LT/MDM) wich falls under the 1279th Support Brigade which falls under Troop Command for the MD Army National Guard. You might have noticed about the Med Co that was deployed today from MD they are also under the 1279th. Also good now I know who to contact when I'm in Iraq for supplies only a group like this can supply. I am scheduled to be deployed on 28 April and should be in country around the 1st of June. And thank you for taking on the responsiblity for the troops, we really appreciate the effort made by those who choose to and not are family members. It means a lot to us."
and sharing it with Fred, who told me that he was saving all those letters and such, what might be a thought about an area for servicemen to post to us for whatever? Requests, thanks, whatever?
If this is nuts, just say so. I already used my good idea for the day with a variation on the 'Fill the Box for the Troops" idea - B&M style.
