Went and saw that little band from Texas last night known as ZZ Top. This was the first time I've had the priveledge to see them. OMG, these guys are incredible even on the next to last night of their tour. Billy's voice when he spoke was gravelley upon belief, almost sounded like it was painful for him to talk. They played everything from some 1932 blues, Muddy Waters, JImi Hendrix to their recent stuff. Only downside was the self contained reggae concert in the row in front of us (kept blowing their smoke back at us - I didn't know you could smoke that much and still stand, although one guy was starting to have problems) oh, then there was the drunk guy behind me that is a comedian's wet dream. He spent the entire show screaming "Whoooooo", "Billy", "ZZ Top", or "Rock and Roll" in either solo words or some combination of them. Except for my left ear being damaged, it was quite amusing.

Back to the show. These guys really look like they like playing together even after all these years, they looked like they were having fun. It appeared that they were tight enough to do some improv along the way and it all flowed together into one increadible show. At the end Billy was playing and smoking a cigar, guy can't be too bad now can he?

The opening act was a band from Atlanta called Blackberry Smoke. If you like Southern Fried Country Rock, you'll like these guys. I'd recommend checking them out.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Billy Gibbons, On two Occasions. I delivered a hot rod to his ranch the first time. He is one of the most down to earth people Ive ever met. Two years later he was doing the Driver Appreciation Tour for the Petro truckstops, and was there with the cadzilla and a few other hot rods, I was quite shocked that he remembered me from the delivery.
