Hey just looked at all the pics. It looked like a great time. I'm still amazed at all the packages. Was talking to my girlfriend today and we are thinking of flying up to Denver and staying a weekend. Just don't know how the dates would work out for you and the other guys. Was thinking about 29 January - 03 February . Already looked at the flight,hotel, and car. Just let me know what you think

Alright I'm thinking of leaving on the 2nd now instead of the third. Looks like my girlfriend likes the Brown Palace Hotel. Looking at the website it looks very nice. Is this going to be close to everything or should I look else where. Just trying to get everything worked out so I can buy in advance. :D

The Brown Palace is nice and across the street from it is a Comfort Inn that is connected to the Brown by an overhead walk-way. The Comfort Inn used to be a part of the Brown. It would be less expensive and through an arrangement with the Brown you can enjoy all of the amenities of the Brown.

This is the Comfort Inn and the Brown is nearest in the pic on the R side. You can't see the overhead walk-way but its on the same side of the Comfort as the sign on the roof.

What all are you hoping to do while in town, Bruce, besides get a taste of the FRH hospitality? Doing any skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing? Cultural events? What's the girlfriend looking forward to?

The Brown Palace is very nice and historically significant, and if you want to do stuff in downtown Denver, that or Fred's suggestion are good. There are tons of good restaurants and a few cigar bars that are close. The Denver Center for Performing Arts is close, with plays, concerts and such.

I think we we'll just try to take in the sights of the city and such while we are up there. I'm from southern Alabama so anything snow sport like is not for me. Think my girlfriend will just be happy to see the mountains. I on the other hand will be happy to see all of you. :D

Talked with Bruce today and he leaves the 6th and arrives home on the 9th of January. He and his girlfriend are still planning on coming to Denver at the end of January and will be staying at the Comfort Inn across from the Brown Palace.

He sounds great and is excited about coming home. He told me that he may be going back to Afghan in October. Everyone from his outfit are now home. He had to stay behind to help train the replacements.

He's tentatively identified someone to replace him. More about this later.

We need to begin planning for his visit. Some of the things I discussed with him are:

Getting the ladies together for shopping, spa visits, lunch, sightseeing, etc.

Herf's of course! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Dinner out with them as our schedules allow.

Boys night out. ;)

I suspect that he also would like to just sit and share (vent) as he can about this past year, etc. I can't think of a safer and more caring group of men than you guys.

So on Saturday, what I'm hearing is possibly the Celtic, HMS or both (Celtic for lunch and a cigar before heading to Louisville?). At the Celtic, I'd think we could have the fight on too and possibly get the back room. On Sunday, I agree with Peter that I prefer someplace comfortable, and that we'd need to get there early to get seats. Stanley's is comfortable as is HFC. Haven't seen the newish lounge at Tobacco Leaf. Never been to Nickel Cigar. CO6 and Barlows maybe too cramped. Cave friendly but not the most comfortable seats for a long stay.

EDIT: Oops. I was informed the fight is PPV so the Celtic probably wouldn't show it if they didn't already plan to.

I think Peter is right, most places will be full. I am going to call Brian at HFC and see what he has going on. If everything is full I can get a couple propane tanks filled and keep the garage fairly warm. We can keep that as a backup anyway as I would prefer somewhere inside as well.

I would love to host you, but havana's is closing our current location. Cherry creek rents, the horrible parking down here, and the downturn in the economy has forced me out. Havana's will be down for a few months while I look for the perfect location (uptown is where i'll be moving).

In the meantime (until this Friday), all my remaining inventory is 50% off - including cigars. Come down and get some deals if you have time.

Ok guys... Fred, Scott, Jamie & I have been working on some plans for the weekend & hope that we have put together some events where we will all have the chance to sit back & get to know Bruce in an enjoyable atmosphere...

Sat Lunchtime... Churchill's Bar, Brown Palace Hotel... should be easy to find by everyone.

Celtic isn't open until 5pm, so we suggest we meet @ Churchill's Bar in the Brown Palace around 1pm. We will leave it open & up to Bruce as to where we migrate to in the evening. I would like to stress that this herf is being organized as a chance for us to meet & thank Bruce for his efforts in Afghanistan, so I am not going to suggest we make any concrete plans around the UFC fight. Maybe Bruce might like to head to HMS, or maybe we will sit & chat/get to know each other at the Celtic etc. It will be Bruce's call...

I have experienced so many emotions this weekend and I am so proud of all of you guys for everything you have done to ensure that Bruce's visit was memorable. Thank you.

Right now I need some time to "decompress" and sit with my feelings.

What an amazing weekend! As already stated, thanks to Bruce and Sara for spending time with us, it was great hearing stories from the sand, and getting a perspective of what our soldiers are going through and how important it is to keep this thing going.

This weekend was a whirlwind of meyhem for me but I'm really glad I was able to put aside the time to meet with Bruce and Sara. Thanks for coming up! It was great to meet you both.
