I've been eyeballing the Savinelli brand, but the less pricey line. Any thoughts? I'd like to find a good inexpensive pipe around 30-40 bucks.

Don't have one myself, but I've never heard anything but good comments about savinelli.

Can't go wrong with a cob.

Cobs are good, I have one as well. They are great for trying new blends. My Peterson 313 is my go-to favorite though.

I have a house branded natural Sav I picked up at Iwan Ries for under $40... It is identical to this one (click) (http://www.pipesandcigars.com/sanapiegg2.html). Pipesandcigars.com has a good range of them on their website. Mine is a great cool smoker that is starting to darken nicely & show flame grain on half of the bowl. Expect the possibility of some sand pits & small fills, but the drilling & fit is top notch. I can definitely recommend them...

I have also read some decent reviews of the Ducca Carlo line... You probably can't do much better in that price range.
Hope that helps!
