Some exciting news! Even if you weren't ever familiar with the old PCCA blends I think most pipe smokers will be excited by these releases... I have my fingers crossed that the move from small batch production to national distribution will have little effect on quality.

I've heard many people talk about these blends, but I haven't had any of the original PCCAs. May have to pick a tin or two of the re-released ones and give them a try. Any recommendations?

Beacon & Aurora are the two I have experience with. Both very high quality tobacco blends. If you like straight VAs with a full & sweet flavor, Aurora is very good. Beacon is up there with the best VaPers that I have tried. It is deep, tangy & spicy without any flavor component going over the top. Complex is probably a good way to describe it...

I have also read some very good things about Orient 966 and Tudor Castle, but haven't tried them yet myself.

Not many reviews posted, but this should help give you some more info:

High praise there. I will have to try the Beacon, and the Orient looks interesting. Thanks!

I thought there might be a rush on these... Pipesandcigars is already waiting on their 2nd shipment to fill orders. They originally got in 12 tins of Beacon & all went to the first buyer. Hopefully my order will ship this coming week (insert fingers crossed smiley).

Here is another source, although they are also sold out of Beacon:

So poking around on the alternate site I found these: http://www.marscigars.com/oldworldtyrolian.aspx
I thought they look pretty cool but am wondering how something like them might smoke.

I'm not sure Dave, but I have seen this sort of pipe on ebay before... The bowls look to be briar, so they could smoke real well. I'm just not sure what sort of costume would be fitting for the occasion :new_rofl:

I think they'd go well with your funny hats.

Maybe, but I reckon some Oom-pah and one of these hats would suit to a tee...
