Just ordered my first tins

So comments I've received about the difference between B&M bulk and tins have finally nudged me down yet another slope.

Last night I ordered a tin of Beacon and one of Frog Morton on the Bayou. Peter gifted me a bit of McClelland's a while back and said if I liked it I would find Frog Morton blends enjoyable as well.

For fun I also picked up a cheaper churchwarden too.

They came in today!! Oddly enough, the Beacon's stamp shows it was tinned in 2007. That's back when PCCA was doing it wasn't it? I wonder if they sold the leftover stock? That'd be cool if they did. The Froggy on the Bayou came too. Do the numbers on the bottom of that mean anything as far as a date?

The churchwarden looks pretty good too, a few divots in the bowl but I won't let that disuade me. Can't wait to get back home tonight and try some of this. :5421:

McClellands has a 3 part coding system for their regular blends... For example, my tins of McC Grand Orientals Yenidje Supreme have 620107 stamped on the bottom which = blend #62, batch #01 in the year '07. Generally if tins are stamped (same for GL Pease as well as C&D) you can assume the last two digits are the year.
