I'm sure there are others who smoke cigars in thier cars. What works the best to keep the smell down? Are those cigarette lighter Ionizer things as worthless as they appear, or do they actually work? Is Febreeze the only viable option (don't like scented spray stuff)?

I've heard the car ionizers work really well. I stopped smoking in my car as a sure method.

My hour ride home is generaly my only solid regular opportunity to spend with a good cigar. That being said and since my wife is a strong supporter of my quitting I have to keep my truck clean (mostly)!

Here is alink to a fairly good article that I have used as a basis of how I treat my truck.

1) vent with out side air not recirculated and crack window on drivers side to create postive pressure
2) Clean windows and hard surfaces regularly
3) I use Fabrize on the fabric and carpet interiors

since 90% of my sticks are smoked in my semi under way, here is my method.

Fan on high drawing fresh air into the cab. Drivers window or wing window in my case open. I do keep a Can-o-sent air freshener in the cab. After 30 minutes no offending aroma remains.

If you dont have them, Vent shades will help draw the smoke out faster with a cracked window.

They are avalible for most cars PU's and SUV's

I might have to invest in a set of those... :D I have been smoking about 2-3 times a week in the car now-a-days... it definitely helps kill the time... :new_rofl:

I once left a full ashtray and a cigar butt in the car for a day and it smelled horrible. Sprayed the cloth seats down with febreeze and left a couple of boxes of baking soda inside for a couple of weeks (I think they might be under the seat now) and the smell is completely gone (not even my wife can tell). Now I just make sure to have the window cracked if I'm smoking and to never leave the left overs in the car.

Convertible with the top down should do it. Might need those deflector things Mark has in the rain though...

I agree with that. Make sure to clean your ashtray and don't leave any butts in the car overnight. I crack my window when I'm smoking so the smoke draws out of the car. Lastly, you have to get a bottle of Febreze. It's not too smelly in my opinion, and what odor it does have dissipates very quickly.

I love my evening cigar on the ride home from work.

I feel the same way, I smoke in my truck, if you don't like the smell find another ride.
