View Full Version : Pipe weirdness

So recently I've noticed something weird. I'll smoke a pipe, and the next day I'll have a dry scratchy throat. If I wait a couple of days it goes away. This only happens when I smoke a pipe. Smoking a cigar doesn't result in the dry throat. It's only when I smoke a pipe, and it's always the day after instead of the day of the pipe smoking.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

How long have you been smoking a pipe? I notice when I smoke my Peterson with the "P" lip the roof of my mouth tends to dry out, but it eventually goes away. Could it be the blend?

I've been smoking a pipe on and off for about a year. Doesn't really seem to matter what blend.
I've tried drinking a massive amount of water while smoking, and that seems to help... a bit, but not really.

I've had my tongue fried, but not this symptom.

I'm guessing it's how you are drawing on the pipe, you are drawing more smoke into your throat than you do with a cigar. You might try drinking Tea (I prefer Green) with Honey. Good luck.

Thanks, guys. If I have to give up the pipe and be..... "stuck" with just cigars, I'm not too concerned. :sifone: Actually a good friend of mine who is falling quickly down the pipe slope has already expressed interest in acquiring the pipes and tobacco I have.
Lefty, I prefer green tea as well, but I've never put anything sweet in it before. I'll give the honey a whirl.
