Pre light dinner – Land and Sea basket from Long Johns (Chicken and popcorn shrimp for 2.99)
Smoking drink – Ice water
The story -
So I stopped by Havana Manor tonight and Duane asked me if I’d tried a Nub yet. Well the only place I’d seen them are in pictures on the internet, so of course I said no.
I get this thing home and am trying to figure out if I’ve got it oriented the proper way. I don’t want to light the side of this sucker and try and smoke it sideways I could hurt something.
So construction is pretty good, nice looking Cameroon wrapper. The prelight draw seems pretty good leaving that nummy taste only a fresh leaf can bring.
This thing has so much real estate to the end of it I used half the acetylene torch’s tank to light. Once I got this thing going, there’s a decent amount of smoke to it and I’m waiting on a flavor. What’s that noise? Oh, the wrapper cracked on the side.
Well I’ve got ½” on it and a few things are notable. 1) This thing puts out enough smoke to fill Edward’s basement single handedly, 2) the spice is starting to develop, 3) this is one thin wrapper! Maybe I should mount it on something and smoke it like a circus seal playing his horn.
Do I detect a bit of sweetness? Maybe, but my jaw is getting sore. Oh crud, I left my back door open. Anyone want to guess the wind direction?
Is 60 degrees too cold for a cammy wrapper? Maybe I should have let this one rest a bit.
An hour later and I just ashed the first half. Wow! This is consistent, it’s living up to its billing. Except for the expansion of ¼”, the second half seems to be developing better than the first.
That's all for now, give them a shot. For $5.75 it's worth a test drive.
