I'm off to the Dominican Republic (for the Arganese trip) on Sunday, and that has gotten me thinking about travel humidors. I've seen most of the Herfers with the CigarCaddy. I take that as a glowing endorsement, but I was wondering what it is specifically that you like about this case or if there are other types that you like.
If I can pick one up in the next two days or so (before I leave) and I can find one for a reasonable price, then I'll probably take one with me on the trip.

Caddys with 30+ count, have a nice valve that lets you release pressure after transferring elevation. This reason alone makes it worth your while to get one, as the airline won't let you fly with a cutting torch to open your cigar case once your on the ground in the DR.

The cigar caddy's are rugged, plastic (good for airport security screens), seal well, have the pressure valve (larger versions), are distributed by a good man out of Ft. Collins and aren't too expensive. These are the same as the Xikar and eXtreme cases. Some off brands like CigarSolutions.com (owner is Ron, great guy) are also very nice. As an investment, there are some excellent cases that will last forever. The ones that come to mind are the Zero Halliburton and Pelican cases. ZHs are top of the line and used by traveling cigar connoisseurs everywhere. Pelicans are indestructible.
There are changes that you probably want to make for extensive travel to any case you buy. Since your trip is near, it's something to think about for later. Pelicans and cigar caddy tray's don't protect the merchandise that well with rough handling. Look at replacement trays (CigarSolutions again is one source). The stock humidification mechanisms are generally bad or at least rudimentary. Replace them, especially if they are the floral foam, with beads or better yet, the humidification sheets cut to size. Bring a small spray bottle of distilled water and you're set.

Well... those two pretty much wrapped up all the details for ya... the only thing left for me to say is DO IT!
I love my 50ct and can't imagine having a smaller caddy. I just load this baby up for the week and I am good to go with plenty of variety. And I haven't out grown it yet and hope I don't lol...

If you chose one of the larger ones, I have a Puck I can loan you. Beads in a plastic case the size of a hockey puck.

I've had a CigarCaddy for about 5 years. I think they're perfect for your trip. I sold some to a couple people who sent them on to Iraq and they helped keep the cigars in perfect shape on the trip over, I can imagine they work well over there.

Jamie, owner of Cigar Caddy, is a friend to the FRH's and the troops. I have several of his cases (2, 10, 15 & 30) and am happy with each. Hope that helps!!

In other words, send Jamie (CigarCaddy on CA or go to his Web site) an email and let him know you are a Front Range Herfer, and that you'ld like to pick up a few. Maybe I should too before the 30 ct are gone.
