Saturday 3/14 poker herf.

What: A CFRH only poker game that we will play for sticks (most likely $20 in sticks since we all have sticks to toss in) or cash (I'm thinking $10 if we do cash with unlimited re-buy to a point, no Fred you can't re-buy in 15 times...:new_rofl:).



Where: HMS



When: I'm thinking we should shoot for a 1 pm start time for the game, that way we don't have to blind people out to death...



Who: Any member of the CFRH board or their significant other. I doubt my gf will come, but I know a few others who will play like Amber.



Why: Just to play some cards and smoke some cigars.


This will be an informal poker game, so that we can take the time to do a little bit of playing and a little bit of teaching cards to those who want to play but are a bit timid... you know who you are and I expect all of you timid guys to play...:D I am thinking we can raise the blinds about every hour or so, to keep it a friendly game.

I am thinking we can probably accommodate around 8-10 poker players at the table and if we have more, then we might need to rotate out on the re-buys or something. In any event we will figure it out... and if you just don't wanna play cards, then come have a cigar! :sifone:

I guess I should clarify, the "me" weekend is when My wife takes the kids up to her mother's for the weekend, begining on Friday afternoon, and I get the whole weekend to sleep in, go trap shooting, go golfing, work on the cars, ... . She gets a me weekend one month and then I get one the next month, and so on.

What are you thinking for format? Tourney style with top 3 from 2 tables play championship game? What's the payout? Winner take all? Payouts for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place? Could ask for 3 cigars totaling about $15 to make multiple payouts easier. It's difficult because retail prices can be so high. Maybe just 3 cigars your choice, no dog rockets or payouts just by percentage whether someone brought one $15 cigar or 3 totaling that amount. Multiple payouts could be blind or let winners pick by place. I said $15 because if someone brought one $10 cigar, that'd be fine, but if they put in 5 $2 cigars, the incentive to win goes down.

3 cigars each x 12 players = 36 cigars
1st: 18 cigars (50%)
2nd: 12 cigars (33%)
3rd: 6 cigars (17%)

I am just rambling here, throwing out some thoughts. Set the rules and we will abide!

I believe so! Zach set up the game and the stakes, but there is no reason you couldn't set up another game,at a later date, with pipe tobacco as stakes.

Well I was thinking that we will run 2 tables and when we get down to about 6 people, we can combine the tables into one table and cancel re-buys from then on.

Until we combine the tables I would think let people re-buy until they are tired of doing so, or until we decide the game needs to start wrapping up.

I like the idea of 3 sticks close to $15 in value, no dog-rockets. Try to provide more CCs than NCs if possible?

As for payouts I would say definitely a 1st and 2nd, then maybe a 3rd. So how about 50%, 30% and 20% of the sticks for 1-3? We would let the 3 winners decide which sticks to take so they can divide it up amongst themselves....

A percentage would be a good idea too, since we won't know how many sticks we have until we get done with the game. Some people could re-buy a couple times and that would increase the pot size.
