I received this stick from CI on Wed and could not wait to try it out.
As you all know today was a windy motha so I tried to wait until a little later in the day to give it a go.
To the hot tub with a couple of beers , a book and this cigar.
This is the longest cigar I have tried, The look was really nice, tight veins and a conneticut style ( light) wrapper which so far, as a new bee, I seem to like.
Toasting the foot was really easy, Maybe a little too dry? I'm not experienced enough to tell. The aroma from toasting though literally made my mouth water. I really tried to take my time toasting to make sure it was a nice even start and I think I accomplished that.
Wow,, super smooth on the draw, and it was great creamy filling smoke that was very pleasant both in aroma and taste. Very mild and just,,,,, satisfying.....Being green, My palate is not as sensitive as many of you but I could taste some wood flavors it seems. It was also rich tasting for lack of a better word.
At about a 1/3 into this stick,it just kept getting better, the creaminess was still there and I was still very excited about this cigar. I put the book down and started to concentrate on this stick. The ash held very well but the wrapper was a bit off it in it's burning which I attributed to the swirly winds. The draw was easy and smooth with no relights needed.
At about 1/2, I tried to take the band off and that was a mistake, It left some holes in the wrapper and caused a split at the head that grew to about 3/4 inch. It looked like hell but tasted great. I could start to detect some spice and almost a bit of something I will call Caramel( sweet).
At the final 1/3rd, the heavens opened up, It started to blow like hell and hailed pretty hard. I was not going to give up though, I wanted more of the spice I was starting to taste. It did not disappoint, It also could have been because I was hitting it more often due to the weather so it may have been a bit hot. I took it to about and an inch before I decided that mother nature and I could call a draw.
Overall- For a new guy, this is a something I would highly recommend, Allow some time for it though, it should be savored and is a long smoke.
I have 4 more and can't wait to try them again. I will buy more.
Thanks
Brett
