Hopefully this is not breaking any of the forum rules and if so, Please delete it.

I saw a copper lined humidor for sale in loveland on craigslist.

I don't have a smoking room or I would have snatched it my self..

How cool would one of my lamps look on this thing huh?

Lol

Hope someone finds it cool and can pick it up.

Wow. Suggests pre 1920's.

I'm reconsidering my decision not to purchase and sent an email asking some questions. I'll update when I get info back and or decide to move forward with it.

That's kinda cool!
Looks like a recently new copper install though.... which is good.
The older linings are tinned in with Lead solder.... which is not good.

But it!:bunny_4:

I think it looks redone in general.

I received this response in my query on the Humidor.. I don't really have the time nor the funds to splurge at the moment so have at it if you like.

"Hello Brett, My wife tells me that it was given to her as a gift from an old man that she took care of as a nurse. We are not sure of its age, but I would expect it from maybe 1930's to 1950's. structurally in good shape. It is solid wood."

Copper lined humidors were in vogue until the 1920's

Even if you didn't use it for cigars, it's an interesting piece of furniture.

PM'd an antique humidor buff on another board, I'll post what he says if he's got anything on this old gem.

He said he couldn't tell me a whole lot from those photos but here's a little bit of substance:

"I've seen alot of them on eBay, and judging from the styles they were done in, and comparing them to other furniture, you get an approximate date.

I have one similar to the one at the link site. I think the lining is original. The door usually has screws or hooks to hold a flat paper or clay element humidfier. other models have milk glass or enamel coated interiors. They can get pretty fancy. I think the copper lining is a lower priced model. But I could have that backwards.

$40 is a decent price. Judging by the exterior style, 1920 is ballpark.

Mine doesn't have much in the way of a seal. And it's small. I use it as a side table.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
Tim"
