Virginia blends have been growing on me. I like that sorta straw/hay-ish type flavor, but I never really tasted the sweet citrusy aspect others talk about. Most of the time I smoke these blends in a small Dr. Grabow that I have. It's a decent pipe, but I just found discovered a new world.

Tonight I reached for an estate Peterson Killarney 268 that I had restored and had been smoking mainly half bowls of burley to try to build up some cake in the heel of the pipe. Loaded it up with some Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake and lit up. Wow! From the first light it was a whole different animal to what I had experience before. Dr. Grabow, you're sacked. This Peterson is making this tobacco simply amazing.

Glad to hear of your experience Daniel... I definitely agree that certain pipes can make a huge difference to the taste of pipe tobacco. It is the main reason why I start my new pipes on VA blends before moving to burley or latakia. Finding a good VA pipe will bring out the best in a blend and give a more satisfying tasty smoke. The same can be said for other tobacco styles and even individual blends... The only down side (?) to this is that you can end up with many pipes :pipe:
