I sure wish that all of us could be at the Shack this year. I'm going to take a lot of videos and when we return I would like to have a herf and bore you with them. I will have an album posted where Peter and I will post pics throughout the shack.
Here is last years Shack album.

And this years album will be posted soon.
This could have about the same excitement as watching someone's vacation pics! However, you could learn about some of the people and personalities on CA. I'll try to get pics of the very rare cigars and PPP's. You simply have to experience it to believe the number of tastings you will enjoy and the opportunities to puff something that may never pass your way again.
I often think that these moments are wasted on me. Most if not all of you are true aficionados and would truly appreciate and enjoy these opportunities.
I'm very grateful to Peter for making this trip with me. I'm sometimes a crotchety old bastard and to be trapped in a car with me for 4 days is asking a lot from anyone!! At least at the herf Peter can escape from me. :amen:
I'm probably going to enjoy the drive as much as the herf. Probably be my last "road trip" and I really do love the heartland. Wide open spaces and the solitude meaning no distractions that life often visits.
PS Thanks for the B-day wishes guys.

Looking forward to the pics and videos Fred. Have a safe trip and enjoy yourself. Your not as "crotchety" as you might think. :D
Wish I could be there to shake your hand.

Ok, here's a fun little contest for the local CO guys... I have a nice 5er for the person who can guess how far Fred & I will make it down I-80 tomorrow. You just need to guess the town where we pull in for the night... Better add a time in case there needs to be a tie-breaker. Closest to the mark wins!
Looking forward to catching up with everyone when we get back from the Shack!
Post your guesses here & I will try to post an update with a winner sometime over the weekend...
Peter, Safe travels to you and Fred and thanks for the contest.

I don't think Glenn should be allowed to enter any more contests. His spies are better than mine.

More like lack of sleep the night Peter posted this, a map, and an intimate knowledge of driving I-80 to Chicago. All that and a damned lucky guess :first:

Christ, we took the magical, mystical tour of the Davenport ghetto in the middle of the night. It was interesting, but our Garmen came to the rescue!! :dance3:
Congrats Glenn!

lol... Good thing you didn't visit the St. Louis BBQ stop I suggested then! At noon it woulda made Midnight in Davenport look like a convent.
But the food is outstanding.
Congrats Glenn!
