Default Balvenie Founder's Reserve 10 year Scotch Malt Whisky

Good Evening,

I was the lucky SOB who won this delicious scotch at the Herf Raffle. I thought it only fitting to drink some and review it for the benefit of all. Short version: it is a delightfully light scotch that is perfect for summertime drinking.

No Madagasgar vanilla or licking a nurse's boot here; just straight forward fruit and floral notes on the nose with light honey sweetness and minimal peat on the first taste. The finish is medium length with carmel sweetness coating the tongue and a slight pleasant meaty/leathery aftertaste.

Some of you will be pleased to know that it beats Stranahan's and is probably cheaper, too.

What is your favorite Scotch?

Yours Truly,

Jim Murray

Sounds tasty! My favorite everyday scotch is Lismore, but for nicer occasions I like Glenfiddich.
